What are undermount basins?
Undermount basins are fitted beneath the bathroom counter rather than on top of it, so the worktop surface stays clean and uninterrupted, with no raised rim for dirt or water to collect around. It is a quietly practical format that does not ask you to compromise on beauty or craftsmanship.
How are your undermount basins installed?
Our undermount sinks can be fitted by any qualified plumber. Installation involves creating a precise cutout in the worktop to the dimensions provided in the supplied template, then securing the basin to the underside of the countertop using 100% silicone sealant or a specialist sink adhesive. Your installer may recommend additional support depending on the worktop material. When fitted correctly, the basin sits flush beneath the surface, creating a stable and seamless finish.
Are your undercounter basins supplied with a basin-cut out template?
Yes. Every undermount basin comes with a dedicated cutout template, giving your fabricator or installer the exact dimensions and shape needed to prepare the worktop surface accurately before fitting the sink.
What is the difference between undermount basins and countertop basins?
Both formats have their strengths, but they create quite different results in the bathroom:
- Countertop basins rest above the vanity surface and become the focal point of the room, bold in form and expressive in character.
- Undermount sinks are fitted beneath the worktop, so the counter reads as one clean, uninterrupted surface, and the basin plays a quieter, more integrated role.
- Undermount sinks are generally easier to clean, with no rim for water or debris to catch around.
- Countertop basins offer greater freedom in shape, colour, and decorative detail, and at London Basin Company, that range is extensive
Do you offer vanity units which accommodate undermount basins?
We currently offer two undermount vanity unit designs, the Ellis undermount vanity unit and the Archer undermount vanity unit. These are made to order and can be customised to any size (width and depth) with a selection of handles, knobs and surfaces available.
Do your products come with a guarantee?
All our basins come with a 5-year guarantee, reflecting our confidence in their quality and craftsmanship. Every design is tested for durability and intended to remain as striking as the day it was installed.
What are the practical benefits of undermount basins?
With no rim at the basin edge, the worktop stays completely clear and uninterrupted, making cleaning genuinely easier. Water and debris wipe straight from the counter into the basin with nothing to catch around and no joints for grime to collect in over time.
The flush installation also makes the vanity area feel more open and spacious, particularly valuable in smaller bathrooms. And with no basin occupying the surface, more of the worktop remains usable day to day.
Can undermount basins work in small bathrooms?
Beautifully. With no basin sitting proud of the surface, the worktop feels more open and the overall scheme far less visually cluttered.
Why choose London Basin Company undermount basins?
Founded by interior designer Anna and her daughter Nathalie, London Basin Company was built around the belief that a basin should be as beautiful as it is functional. Our undermount sinks are handcrafted from fine porcelain, with decorative detailing applied by hand and fired beneath a smooth, durable glaze. What sets them apart is the design itself, each basin has its own distinct hand-applied decoration, from delicate floral motifs to bold colour-ways, turning an often-overlooked fitting into something that makes a subtle yet striking statement. Each piece is backed by a 5-year guarantee and supported by free bathroom design advice, so you can shop with confidence from first choice to final installation.
Are undermount basins good for everyday use?
Yes. Our undermount sinks are made from high-quality porcelain, fired at extremely high temperatures to produce a surface that is strong, resilient, and built for regular daily use. The glaze protects the decorative detailing beneath, keeping each basin looking as refined as the day it was installed. They are used regularly across residential, commercial, and hotel projects.
What shapes are available in the undermount range?
All of our undermount basins are oval in form, a shape that brings a softer, more considered presence to the vanity area than a square or rectangular basin would. The Calypso takes this further with a beautifully scalloped texture across its surface, drawing on the natural form of a seashell to create something that feels both refined and quietly individual.
What colours are undermount basins available in?
Our undermount basins are built on a white porcelain base, with each design bringing its own decorative character. The Calypso White keeps things pure and unfussy with a clean all-white finish, while the Calypso Gold makes a bolder statement with an all-over gold electroplated finish to ensure the colour does not fade. The Aurora layers deep admiral blue onto white, and the Wisteria brings soft lilac blooms and green leaves to the surface for something altogether more painterly.
How does an undermount basin affect the sense of space in a bathroom?
Because an undermount sink is fitted below the worktop rather than above it, the vanity area feels more open and less visually busy. The counter reads as a single, uninterrupted surface, which makes the room feel more considered and calm, particularly in bathrooms where space is limited. Paired with a natural stone or quartz worktop, the effect can be genuinely striking.
Can your undermount sinks be paired with our different bathroom accessories?
Yes. Our undermount basins work beautifully with both the Ellis and Archer undermount vanity units, each of which can be fully customised to your project. For taps, they are compatible with all of our wall-mounted basin taps as well as the Monty deck-mounted tap. You can also complete the look with one of our mirrors.
Can I view the undermount basin sink collection in person?
Yes, and we’d love to welcome you. Visit our Chelsea Harbour showroom to see our undermount sinks up close, experience the quality of the craftsmanship for yourself, and get a true sense of how each piece looks within a complete bathroom scheme.

Are the undermounts easy to maintain?
Yes. Simply use a mild detergent or an all-purpose cleaner and avoid abrasive materials that could damage the surface. Clean regularly to prevent a build-up of soap, grease, and dirt, then wipe dry with a soft cloth.
Are your undermount sinks compatible for use worldwide?
Yes. Our undermount sinks are designed for international compatibility. Each basin has a standard 4.5 cm waste hole, making it compatible with plumbing systems worldwide. They work with standard slotted wastes designed for basins with an overflow and universal wastes worldwide, so installation is just as straightforward whether your project is based in the UK or overseas.
What waste is compatible with our undermount sinks?
As all of our undermount basins feature an overflow, they are compatible with slotted or universal basin wastes worldwide. The 4.5 cm waste hole is designed to accommodate standard fittings, so sourcing the right waste for your installation is straightforward, whether you are based in the UK or internationally.
